The filter press is used to dewater different type of sludge (ex. sludge coming from industrial and municipal wastewater treatment plants, metal galvanizing industry etc.). By using this type of equipment we obtain a sludge cake, which has a high content of DM.
Area of utilization: metal galvanization industry, paper industry, recycling and metal processing, leather industry, pharmaceutical and chemical industry, glass and ceramics industry, painting industry, etc.
The filter press has a high efficiency due to large filtering surface and high filtering pressure (3-7 bar). The pressing system is a hydraulic system, this will close the filtering plates and will filter the sludge on a high pressure. After pressing we will obtain a cake, which DM content will reach at least 35% (depending on the type of sludge).
The installation is working in cycles, so the power consumption is relative low.
The equipment can be used for small, medium, but also large wastewater treatment plants, where at least 30 % DM content is required.
The filter press is usually mounted on a platform, to allow the elimination and transportation of the dewatered sludge. This platform is not part of the equipment.
The automatic functioning of the equipment is made by the PLC command system, which in case of more then one filtering cycle; this will help eliminating the dewatered sludge cakes, with a pneumatic system. This pneumatic system is optional.
The standard components of the equipment are the followings:
Pneumatic pump, membrane pump, centrifugal pump, piston pump, excentric screw pump etc. for feeding the filter press, but also helicoidal conveyors, band conveyor to transfer the dewatered sludge, hot galvanized carbon steel or stainless steel platform for the suspension of the filter press (the platform is designed and manufactured according to customer request), pail underneath the equipment for the evacuation of the dewatered sludge;
It is used to separate components of different densities (solid- fluid). Due to centrifugal force the solids will be settled on the interior part of rotating drum, from where are constantly scraping out by a screw to the conical outle. Fluids are separated by gravity and evacuated to opposite part of solid outlet.
By centrifuge process we will obtain a compacted material with at least 22- 25 % DM. In case of high inorganic solid content it can reach an efficiency of 33- 35 % DM content of the dewatered sludge.
Due to high cost of operation and maintenance (high power consumption) the application of equipment is payable in case of wastewaters with high content of suspended solids or sludge thickening.
The function of equipment is completely automated; the sludge thickening process is continuous. It is a suitable solution in wastewater treatment process where does not exist the possibility of storage of resulted sludge. Therefore it can be use in situations where sludge thickening system it is not necessary.
Application filed: food industry, pharmaceutical industry, chemical industry, oil industry, etc. The most applicable domain is drinking water and communal wastewater treatment processes.
The installation can be equipped with belt conveyor or helicoidal screw conveyor for dewatered sludge discharge.
The centrifuge decanter it’s applicable both for sludge thickening and dewatering.
This equipment is use both for thickening and dewatering sludge processes. It is often used in large and middle wastewater treatment plants.
The function of belt press is continuous similar to decanter centrifuge, but the power consumption is relatively low.
The steps of sludge thickening, dewatering process are the followings:
Before sludge to reach the belt press it is necessary to submit a conditioning and flocculating process.
– first step of dewatering by belt press is the sludge transferring on an primary horizontal belt.
– secondary step consist in pressure creation, by pressing the sludge to a secondary belt.
Subsequently the pressure grows continuously by sludge passing trough the perforated drums mounted among primary and secondary belt.
This filtering process can ensure an approx. 18 % DM content of resulted sludge.
It is important to mention that the type of belt cloth is selected according to sludge type. The optimum selection of material can be reached if the sludge is being tested.
The belt press function is automatic, can be equipped with belt conveyor or a helicoidal screw conveyor to dewatered sludge discharge.
It is easy to maintain it by cleaning the belt and drums surfaces.
The capacity of dewatering is from 1-2 m3/h to 10-20-50 m3/h. According to the type of the sludge the installation can be delivered with sludge thickener, flocculation reactor or static mixer.
The bag sludge dewatering equipment is used to dewater sludge coming from the municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants, sludge coming from lakes, rivers etc. The dewatering is being made by the bag filters, which retain the solids from the water. The water that is being filtered will go to the accumulation tank of the equipment, after this will be reintroduces in the system.
Dosing polyelectrolyte will increase the efficiency of the dewatered sludge increasing the DM content. The installation can be equipped with static mixer, which helps mixing the polyelectrolyte solution with sludge.
The functioning of the equipment is being manual. Compressed air system coupled to the equipment, which puts pressure on the sludge, will increase the dewatered sludge DM content, up to 10- 15%. In this case the equipment will have a local control panel, which will allow the system to be automated. The only thing that has to be done by the operator it is to discharge the full bags.
